German Iraki was formed to liberate Koyo Waldorf. I’ve reached a moment in which the articulation of an artist statement / manifest has taken away my freedom to express. The question that kept haunting me: Is this art? Can this integrate into the current art scene? To liberate my work from this question, German Iraki came into existence. German Iraki is a shutout to my bloodline. To free itself from the fine art world, German Iraki signed a contract to entangle himself with the weigh of heritage.
German Iraki is dedicated to exploring the stories of sound & their links to land, people, roots & history. In 2023, He self published a book named ‘Get Nuff Nuff Data’ in collaboration with Jamaican musician I Jahbar. He stream a show named ‘Country Rebels’ that explores the importance of rebellion in the architecture of society through Country & Folk music. A series that invites guests on to talk & explore that subject with us.
German Iraki does not know why his heritage is what defines him. He almost wished he could be heritage-Less. Yet he keeps going, accompanied by the prayer that a connection to the personal will emphasis the global. Each story exists as a universal one.
