A Line in the Chest // 2022
A Line in the Chest Is a 7-minute portrait video, made for ‘Sublime Rage’ exhibition (2022) at The French Place, London. The work was done in two parts, working with the youth of my village was chapter, & shooting at night with my father was the second part. In between those two, I look of my next step in manhood. The video explores the movements of our internal emotions, through an exterior look at nature & body. The young are untrained in hiding their feelings, and I found a clear reflection in the work with them. Instead of sampling the green screen, I’ve sampled their skin tone, transparent bodies, fighting the feeling of a displacement of the emotional state from the outside world. A Journey inward and outwards connected by blackness, and field recordings. I want to believe that I am still a part of nature.
